FP7 is a short term for the European Commisions 7th
Framework Program for Research and Technological Development.
The program runs 7 years from 2006-2013 and is the European
Commiisons main funding scheme for research and development. The
program has a budget of more than € 50 billion.
FP7 has two main strategic objectives:
- to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European
industry;
- to encourage its international competitiveness, while promoting
research that supports EU policies.
FP7 is a key tool to respond to Europe's needs in terms of jobs
and competitiveness, and to maintain leadership in the global
knowledge economy.

Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant
